This school year several Aurora High School students are being awarded for their creativity through art. The students are being recognized by the Region-at-Large program of the 2021 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. This contest has been going on since 1923 celebrating teen artists. Seven Aurora students were awarded from the regional contest, and some will advance nationally.

The different awards being presented were the Gold Portfolio Medal, the Gold Key, and the Silver Key. The Gold Portfolio Medal is given to a graduating high school senior who submitted a portfolio of six pieces of art that demonstrates remarkable work. The Gold Key award is based on artwork that demonstrates originality, technique, and vision. Both the Gold Portfolio Medal winners and the Gold key winners automatically get their artwork sent to New York City for national adjudication. The national awards will be announced on March 17, 2021.

The Silver Key award is a regional achievement recognizing advanced artistic achievement.
